Regenerative Medicine Q & A
What is regenerative medicine?
Regenerative medicine is a medical treatment that uses mesenchymal stem cells, specialized fluids, such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and therapies like TENEX, to help your body repair itself.
The team at Jersey Integrative Health and Wellness uses mesenchymal stem cells that have been harvested from donor cord tissue of healthy, full-term babies after live birth. The process does not harm them, and babies are pre-screened and pre-approved beforehand.
Research has shown that mesenchymal stem cells have the potential to renew damaged or diseased tissue, including whole organs, and help normalize congenital deformities.
What is PRP treatment?
PRP treatment uses platelet-rich plasma injections to speed up the body’s natural healing process. These injections contain a concentrated form of your blood’s own platelets, a protein that contains growth factors that facilitates body repair.
PRP injections have the potential to speed up healing after surgery and from conditions such as:
- Osteoarthritis
- Acute injuries
- Tendon injuries
PRP injections can also decrease pain. To treat your condition, your team injects the PRP solution directly into the injury site, where it goes to work.
You might not notice a change right away, but often, during the ensuing months, you’ll find that you’re healing more rapidly than you would otherwise.
To create PRP, your Jersey Integrative Health and Wellness team draws a small amount of blood from your arm, then puts it through a process called centrifugation. During centrifugation, your platelets separate from your blood’s other components, and concentrate.
What is TENEX?
TENEX is a minimally invasive procedure that treats chronic tendon pain. Your Jersey Integrative Health and Wellness team offers TENEX to treat tendon pain in areas like the:
- Shoulders
- Elbows
- Knees
- Hips
- Ankles
TENEX can also treat pain from plantar fasciitis in the foot.
How does TENEX work?
Tenex works using ultrasound technology to identify and remove damaged tissue. To begin the procedure, your team uses a handheld ultrasound device to locate the source of your tissue damage.
Once they find the damage, your team numbs the area with a local anesthetic, then applies an ultrasonic tool to your skin. The ultrasonic tool creates a three-millimeter microincision, and uses sound waves to gently breakdown and remove damaged tissue.
After your procedure, your team places a bandage over your incision. In addition to eliminating your tendon pain, the process stimulates healing. Typically, your tissue is fully recovered within four to six weeks.
Jersey Integrative Health and Wellness offer you a myriad of insurance-covered solutions for your pain that don’t require surgery or lengthy recovery times. Invest in a better type of treatment by reaching out to the practice online or over the phone to learn more.
